Glenwood

Glenwood is seeking a Director of Educational Services to lead the Allan Cott and Lakeview School programs. Allan Cott specializes in education for individuals with autism in Glenwood’s residential programs and local educational authorities. Whereas, Lakeview provides education to children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral disorders in residential treatment. Both school programs are located on Glenwood’s beautiful 360-acre campus featuring a large playground, gymnasium, outdoor pool, lakes for fishing/boating, and miles of hiking trails. Glenwood’s schools are equipped with the latest technology and feature a full-size mock apartment for life skills training, multiple sensory rooms, computer lab, and a gross motor lab. Teaching methods are both ABA and trauma informed, building on students’ strengths and preferences to promote independence and self-determination. The Director should have a high degree of expertise in special education programming and will need to exhibit a dynamic personality, utilizing excellent interpersonal skills to support a collaborative, supportive, and positive work environment where all staff and students can thrive.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitors to ensure the safety, dignity, and respect of all staff and students
  • Develops, implements, and ensures adherence to Glenwood Policies and Procedures
  • Ensures compliance with AL State Department of Education standards and regulations, AL Department of Mental Health standards, and other accrediting organizations
  • Evaluates current curriculum and coordinates any changes needed
  • Implements and oversees planned curriculum and assessment processes
  • Coordinates multi-disciplinary teams in the development of IEPs
  • Communicates with student parents, guardians, and responsible LEAs
  • Oversees the recruitment, training, and performance management of all teachers and classroom assistants
  • Provides coaching and mentorship to teachers in developing appropriate programming for students and leading their classroom staff
  • Oversees implementation of state required testing and reporting
  • Develops and monitors school budgets, grant funds, and Title Funds
  • Develops and monitors schoolwide goals and objectives for student progress and staff performance
  • Evaluates and coordinates new student admissions
  • Other duties may be assigned

COMPETENCIES:

  • Excellent communication skills with ability to develop positive and collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to lead in a continually changing environment while navigating sometimes conflicting priorities
  • Proficient in use of electronic data collection systems, electronic health records, and power school

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 years of teaching students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Emotional and Behavioral Disorders, and/or Intellectual Disabilities.
  • 5 years of management experience
  • Experience with Applied Behavior Analysis and PBIS highly preferred
  • Experience with conducting research preferred
Qualifications:

EDUCATION/LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in Special Education or related field required, Doctorate preferred
  • AL Teacher Certification Required, Certification in Administration highly preferred
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst / BCBA highly preferred
