Alabama Public Television (APT) is seeking a full-time Digital Content Specialist to work in APT’s Digital Media Department. The Digital Content Specialist is an integral member of the APT team who is responsible for using digital tools to build meaningful relationships and connections with Alabama Public Television’s audience.

Key Responsibilities

·         Responsible for editorial content and strategy for APT’s websites and other digital platforms, working closely with colleagues across departments to coordinate digital messaging. Ensures content meets all editorial standards and accessibility and branding guidelines.

·         Responsible for initiating and developing, producing, writing, and editing content for APT’s digital and social platforms- including creating videos, features, blogs, graphics, and other content as assigned.

·         Creates, updates, and maintains web and other digital content on appropriate platforms. Monitors content on live digital and social sites. Manages the APT public online video library.

·         Designs, develops, produces, and edits public television documentary, public affairs, and instructional programs for a digital audience.

Required Qualifications

·         Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, English, or a closely related field

·         Three (3) years of professional experience in the field of public relations, public information, communications, marketing, print journalism, broadcast journalism, or related media promotional/information experience.

Preferred Qualifications

·         Outstanding verbal communication and writing skills as it pertains to all internal and external communications.

·         Exceptional time-management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.

·         Demonstrated experience in developing online content and marketing strategies.

·         Demonstrated experience in graphic and website design.

·         Demonstrated experience in producing, editing, and creating digital and social videos.

·         Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite; Basic HTML, CSS, CMS, SEO; digital motion graphics;  digital video platforms and other relevant technology skills.

·         Familiarity with public television programming and mission.

Salary range is $41,668.80 – $69,688.80.
