As an Adventure Guide at Red Mountain Park, you will be leading guests through our four unique and exciting aerial adventure activities. You will interact with a variety of people and personalities from all over the state and country! Adventure Guides have the great responsibility of ensuring that all guests have an incredible and safe experience. We provide 40 hours of training and a mandatory shadowing period for each new guide because incorrect judgment, a technical error, or violation of policy could result in danger to a guest or guide. Our highest priority is safety and accident prevention—accordingly, we hire applicants who are hyper-vigilant and who have excellent attention to detail. Guides are also responsible for creating an engaging and enjoyable guest experience through our different adventure tours!

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain proficiency with guiding participants safely through all four high adventure activities, including zip lines, climbing walls, and aerial challenge courses
  • Monitor guests, equipment, and courses
  • Comply with Park safety rules and policies
  • Operate professionally and work to ensure that the Adventure Area is clean at all times
  • Meet and greet Red Mountain Park guests
  • Maintain a good sense of humor and cooperative attitude in dealing with all guests
  • Treat guests with respect, so they will know they are valued and cared for
  • Instruct guests in gearing-up, safety orientation, and ground school
  • Keep informed on Park attractions, events, and history
  • Remain constantly aware of responsible for personal safety and safety of others
  •  Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Minimum Education: high school diploma/GED
  • Able to adhere to a flexible work schedule to include weekends, nights, and holidays
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and possessing strong communication skills
  • Team player with a “can do” attitude, and willing to assist in all areas of Park operations
  • Able to work in a fast paced outdoor environment in various weather and temperature scenarios
  • Responsible, reliable, punctual, and committed to job
  • Excited about engaging people and sharing the experience of Red Mountain Park
  • Family friendly, pleasant, and courteous in all interactions with Park guests; comfortable talking to groups
  • Must be physically fit, able to hike, climb, work at heights over 50 feet, and lift 50 pounds
  • Must weigh under 250 pounds to adhere to industry requirements and standards
  • Must successfully complete guide training, including written and assessment tests
  • Able to make risk management decisions

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Current First Aid and CPR Certifications preferred
  • Previous adventure sport/tour guide experience preferred
