The numbers are staggering.

One in six seniors struggles with hunger in Alabama.

700 daily home deliveries

To meet that need, Meals on Wheels of Jefferson County serves more than 171,500 meals a year. That’s 700 daily home deliveries throughout the county.

Delivering daily hundreds of meals to people’s homes is not an easy task.

Meals On Wheels’ success is dependent upon a volunteer network of those who drive a route and deliver hundreds of meals daily to homebound seniors in Jefferson county. They need your help.

Volunteers are needed to deliver hot noontime meals to homebound seniors in various areas of Jefferson County. Meals are delivered between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. You may choose to volunteer for a specific route, or one can be assigned to you. Using your own vehicle, you’ll deliver meals on a regular, recurring basis as many days per week or month as fit your schedule.

Groups are welcome

You also don’t have to just volunteer as an individual. Groups are welcome. It can be a civic club, a church project or a group of neighbors and friends pulling together to deliver meals to give back to the community.
