Update: Birmingham native, Jordan Fisher, wins “Dancing with the Stars”

A flood of silver confetti rained down on Jordan Fisher and professional dance partner, Lindsay Arnold, as they were announced winners of “Dancing with the Stars” Tuesday night.
The couple faced off in the DWTS two-hour season finale with couples Frankie Muniz and Whitney Carson and Lindsey Stirling and Mark Ballas.
Broadcast live from The Grove in Los Angeles, the finale showed off several holiday-inspired dance numbers and vocal performances by celebrity cast members including Nick Lachey, Debbie Gibson and Jordan Fisher himself. It also featured lots of reminiscing about the season with the original 13 dance couples performing throughout the night.
During the finale, Jordan and Lindsay, known on social media as #TeamFishUponAStar, performed two dances. The first was a reprise from Week Two – a precise, snazzy samba set to the “Mi Gente” by J. Balvin and Willy William.
While all three judges doused the couple in high praises, Bruno Toniolo gave the ultimate compliment,
“When you dance, you draw the audience to you like a magnet.”
These words sum up Jordan perfectly during the season as many had him pegged as the front winner since Episode One.
High praise was also delivered after the couple’s second performance, a salsa-pasa doble fusion, which blended its styles with both energy and precision.
Judge Len Goodman doted on Jordan stating,
“You are the most complete male celebrity ever on Dancing with the Stars”.
Jordan is the first celebrity from Alabama to win the Mirrorball Trophy. The closest was Noah Galloway, an Army veteran and double amputee from Alabaster, who took third place in 2015 with his dancing partner, Sharna Burgess, during season 20 of the show.
Jordan’s family and friends appeared on the finale in pre-taped segments, proving commentary in Jordan’s life, career and talent. This also included Lin-Manuel Miranda of “Hamilton” and Keith Cromwell of the Red Mountain Theatre Company, where Jordan spent seven years performing in their youth programs.
What’s next for Jordan? Only time will tell!

The “Dancing with the Stars” top four finalists were named Monday night, November 13. Among them was Birmingham native Jordan Fisher. The 23-year-old actor and singer, who has been heating up the dance floor with his DWTS partner, Lindsay Arnold, has not only made Alabamians proud but also stunned the millions of viewers who have tuned in to the ABC show’s 25th season.
Jordan first broke out as a multi-talented artist in 2016. His abilities stretch across many platforms, including TV, film, music and Broadway. One of his most recent works was staring in award-winning songwriter/producer Lin-Manual Miranda’s Broadway musical, “Hamilton”. In the musical, Jordan took on the dual roles of John Laurens and Philip Hamilton.
Jordan’s success can be traced back to his days growing up outside Birmingham. It was there that he cultivated his tastes by listening to a diverse range of music, from Luther Vandrose to Metallica. He also worked to develop his acting skills at the Birmingham-based Red Mountain Theatre Company.
Now Jordan is just a few dance steps away from possibly winning DWTS.
During the semi-finals, Jordan and Lindsay’s first performance, a “Dancer’s Pick”, featured an emotional Argentine tango set to “Brother” by Needtobreathe. Arnold chose the song and choreographed the steps. Her inspiration: to represent Jordan’s close relationship with his siblings.
The only judge who seemed impressed by the piece was Judge Bruno Toniolo, who said,
“You were strong; you were stylish… I thought what you did was absolutely fabulous.”
Unfortunately for Jordan and Lindsay, two of the three judges weren’t entirely thrilled by the performance. Carrie Ann Inaba stated that Jordan appeared disconnected during the performance, while Len Goodman thought the theme and choreography selected were at odds with a sultry Argentine tango.
After an only so-so first number, Jordan and Lindsay redeemed themselves with their second performance, an “Iconic Dance”. For this number, the couple delivered a rapid-fire jive to the Tina Turner version of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Proud Mary”.
The performance earned them perfect scores from all three judges. Jordan received the ultimate compliment from Goodman, who said,
“We’ve had good jives; we’ve had great jives. Now we have Jordan’s jive, which is the yardstick for everyone else.”
