The community group Stand As One Alabama is hosting a mayoral forum, tomorrow, July 27, from 5:30 to 8 PM at the historic 16th Street Baptist Church. If you need a free, Alabama photo ID card, you can get one there. Here’s the link to the event. Forum starts at 6 PM. Photo IDs available at 5:30 PM.
On Monday, July 31, the nonprofit I Believe In Birmingham is hosting a District 5 candidate debate. Here’s the link to the event.

When did you officially announce your candidacy and where/how did you do it?
 “On social media: May 1, 2017.”
What is the name of your principal campaign committee?
“The Committee to Elect Jeffrey Rowser.”
Why do you want to run for Birmingham City Council?
“I’m running because I believe District 7 deserves better than what they have been getting.”
What is your background, education and experience?
“High school education.No experience, but I do believe my time that I served in the Marines and by me being a postal worker—working with the people—leads me to believe I am qualified.
How will you foster a healthy, working relationship between the mayor’s office and the Birmingham City Council/city hall?
“I would be a more positive leader and a mediator between the community and the council.”
How will you accomplish transparency with the residents of Birmingham, if elected?
“I feel the councilman and councilwoman should be upfront, honest and open with the people who elected them into office.”
