Mark Zuckerberg, Founder of Facebook, Tours Alabama

In hopes of visiting all 50 states, Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan are traveling across the south to gain insight into different communities, and the people who hold them together.

Starting in Mobile, the two enjoyed local hangouts and the Mardi Gras festivities.

On Monday, Zuckerberg and Chan landed in Birmingham and stayed till Tuesday.

They met local Birminghamians, Mayor Bell, explored the Civil Rights Museum, and enjoyed a meal at OvenBird within Pepper Place.

After Birmingham, Zuckerberg and Chan traveled to Tuscaloosa and met with Coach Nick Saban.

“We talked about what it takes to build a world class football organization.

Many of the same things go into building a good company and a winning football program — a focus on recruiting, developing talent and setting high expectations.”

Another stop was Selma, Alabama where Zuckerberg gave a shout out to local journalism.

“It seems like a good time to say thank you to all the journalists around the world who work tirelessly and sometimes put their lives in danger to surface the truth.”
