Frommer’s names B’ham “one of the Deep South’s most interesting destinations…”

The Lime Light People!

It has been shining upon our sliver of magic in regards to food, beer, tech/innovation and tourism, in 2016, quite a lot. We are very proud to announce that yet another travel blog has recognized our Magic!

The article states how in our recent past, the Birmingham Metro suburban areas were growing, and our city was seemingly ignored, until now.

Referring to the statement “the Pittsburgh of the South”, Frommer’s points out, and hits the nail on the head, how our development is building on top of the past without “running away from its heritage”.

Here are 4 aspects, of B’ham, Frommer’s recognizes:
  • Coffee and a Walk-

“Have a seat at the bar at Revelator Coffee Company

Next, do the short stroll to Railroad Park. Something like the city center’s front yard, this sculpted, 19-acre oasis isn’t just a place to get some exercise, but it’s also a symbol of the local renaissance…”

  • Hang around some old factories-

“…Sloss Furnaces, a National Historic Landmark, where iron was produced for nearly 90 years..”.

  • Eat a pile of meat, then swing through the trees-

“Just a short drive from downtown, the reputation of Saw’s BBQ stretches far beyond Birmingham.

While you’re out this way, stop in at Red Mountain Park.”

  • Happy hour with the cool crowd in Avondale-

“Start with local brews at the Avondale Brewing Company, with its inviting indoor-outdoor setup…

Hungry? Post Office Pies has pizzas made in wood-fired, custom brick ovens. They are very good.”

We are stoked every time the Magic City is recognized, but more so when our local businesses are praised for their unique dedications.
