DESCRIPTION:City Center Art is Space One Eleven’s afterschool studio art program for students of all skill levels and is designed to build visual communication skills and foster creative thinking. Throughout the semester\, young artists learn the elements of art and principles of design\, strengthen foundation skills\, and further their understanding of art criticism\, art theory\, and art history. \nTeaching artists balance instruction between creating and responding—young artists make\, discuss\, and write about their work—thereby facilitating a transformative learning experience for young artists. \nSpace One Eleven’s philosophy is to provide an environment in which young artists can learn\, create\, explore\, and forge their own path into the world of art. All CCA young artists participate in the end of year exhibition and open house at the end of the Spring Semester. \nStudents are welcome to join the art class any time during the school year if seats are available. Class cost will be pro-rated for those who join later in the semester.

DESCRIPTION:EPIC Parenting — Free 6-Week Parenting Class | Children’s Aid Society of Alabama \nChildren’s Aid Society of Alabama offers Effective Parenting Instruction Course (EPIC) — a free\, 6-week in-person parenting class for parents and caregivers of children of all ages. \nEPIC uses the evidence-based Active Parenting curriculum developed by Dr. Michael H. Popkin\, rooted in the Adlerian psychology principles of Alfred Adler and Rudolf Dreikurs. Classes focus on practical skills training that strengthens parent-child relationships and promotes healthy family dynamics. \nMorning and evening sessions are available for your convenience.  \nThese MORNING sessions will be hosted at: Jefferson Family Court 10:00am – 12:00pm Once per week\, beginning June 10th\, Ending July 15th \nWhat you’ll learn: \n\nUnderstanding children’s behavior and motivation\nEncouragement\, self-esteem\, and positive communication\nEmpathy\, feelings\, and problem-solving strategies\nEffective discipline and natural/logical consequences\nBuilding strong family relationships\nShaken baby prevention and safe sleep\nSmoking cessation and drug/alcohol prevention conversations\nParenting children with special needs\nSchool success strategies for your child\n\nWho should attend: All parents and caregivers; regardless of age\, family structure\, or experience level.
