The path is mostly a former railroad line route\, a “rails to trails” type path that is flat and mostly consists of hard-packed crushed rock used by bicyclists. The plan is to bike at a leisurely pace from the Fultondale end to the Brookside end\, stopping every mile or so or when the habitat is promising\, or the birds are showing themselves nicely.
