Originally attempted as a year-round event\, the jam now takes place seasonally—spring through fall—with a particularly magical December session held beside the Christmas tree. \nNo Experience Necessary \nWhether you’ve never touched a drum or you’ve been playing for years\, all are welcome to join. The sessions are entirely free\, and John brings at least 20 drums for anyone to try out. People are encouraged to bring their own instruments if they have them\, but it’s not a requirement. \nSpecial attention is given to young children\, who are invited to explore softer instruments in the center of the circle with the support of a parent. It’s a safe\, joyful space to simply “hit things” and begin developing a love for rhythm. \nA Creative\, Healing Space \nMore than just music\, the drum jam is a form of expression and even healing for many. Participants include dancers\, hoopers\, painters\, writers\, and more—all drawn to the rhythm in their own unique way. \n“People come for different reasons\,” the facilitator shares. “For many\, this is a healing experience—a release of emotion\, a chance to connect and be accepted.” \nWhether someone is battling illness\, navigating personal struggles\, or just looking for a creative outlet\, the drum circle offers support\, connection\, and joy.
