It promotes reduced tension to support healthy blood\, better muscle function\, and it decreases tension and pain. Massage is also good for mental health. People living with dementia often experience a heightened stress response which can lead to anxiety and depression. Evidence shows that massage therapy is an effective\, non-drug treatment to lower stress levels and promote a sense of safety and general wellbeing.\nSpend some time on a leisurely boat ride on Lake Martin to relax or enjoy a session on fruit farming and gardening on the farm with the team from New Water Farms.

Around 80 million years ago\, during the Late Cretaceous Period\, this area of the South was covered in a shallow sea. The rock along this river segment is made up of the microscopic skeletons of phytoplankton living in that water body. Continue to keep a lookout for the fossils of Creataceous marine animals such as mosasaurs\, plesiosaurs\, giant turtles\, and shark teeth in the shallows as you paddle! \nWhat to Expect\nWe will be making stops along the way\, but in order to be back home at a reasonable hour\, we will be spending the majority of the day on the water. Another consideration for the difficulty level is the quality of the access locations. US 80 is a rip rap/sand hill that is fairly steep. Elam Holly is a slightly steep sandy hill and a short walk across a sandy beach.  \nGuided canoe trips are weather and water-dependent. If there are changes or cancellations\, Wil Rainer will contact each guest and let you know the plan. \nWhat to Bring\n\nWater (at least 1 liter)\nLunch\nSunscreen\nSun hat\nClose-toed water shoes. It’s not a performance or a class\, but a shared moment where people from every background\, age group\, and ability level gather to connect on a basic human level through rhythm. \n“Rhythm is a UNIVERSAL language\,” he emphasizes. “Once you know where the ‘pulse’ is\, you can interact with it and the other people in the circle.” \nFrom gently guiding participants to shifting grooves to keep things fresh\, the facilitator works behind the scenes to ensure each session flows smoothly—even though it may “look” easy. \nRooted in Birmingham \nAlthough John has led drumming events around the city for over 20 years\, the Community Drum Jam at City Walk BHAM has been thriving for the past two. Danny also runs a conference and event space in Liberty Park\, offering catering\, retreats\, and private chef services. When not in the kitchen\, he can be found in the woods or garden\, exploring the flavors of nature.

Each month\, you are invited to explore a different aspect of plant life in the Gardens and a new watercolor technique. You can sign up for any number of workshops\, but sign up early\, as group sizes will be intentionally small. Participants will provide their own journal. Watercolors and pencils are provided. Bottled water\, hat\, and sunglasses are recommended. \nLocation:  Meet at the Gardens’ entrance in Blount Plaza \n\n\n          \n \nBecome a Friend of the Gardens and join us in our mission to protect\, nurture\, and share the wonders of Birmingham Botanical Gardens.
