Join our Naturalists at Red Mountain Park where we will review the fundamentals of enjoying our greenspaces. \nThis program is designed for our friends and families who want to spend more time outdoors but don’t know where to start. We will review safety in the outdoors\, appropriate attire\, outdoor activities\, and how to make the most of your experience in nature. The program will include a short guided hike and a brief tour of Red Mountain points of interest! Red Mountain 101 is geared towards our community members who are new to outdoor recreation and is appropriate for all ages. \nNote: For the hike\, bring comfortable walking shoes and a water bottle.The hike will be approximately 1.5 miles on uneven terrain with little to no elevation change (fairly flat).

Participants are invited to run\, walk\, or scooter their way through the one-mile flat course\, perfect for all ages and skill levels.\nThe fun run benefits recent graduates (within six months) of The Lovelady Center in Birmingham\, with this year’s goal to raise funds to provide 25 women with 25 cars in 2025. In partnership with First Fruits Ministries\, the initiative aims to help women secure reliable transportation\, empowering them and their families toward stability and independence.\nFirst Fruits secures the cars and gets them in reliable condition.  The Lovelady graduates raise $1500 and then Portraits of Hope matches the $1500 in order for the ladies to obtain a car after taking auto maintenance classes.  Several recipients of previous First Fruits cars will be at the fun run with their cars.\n“We believe that transportation is a vital step toward sustainable success for these women and their families\,” said Beverly McNeil. “Our collaboration with First Fruits Ministries exemplifies community-driven support for lasting change.”\nIn order to register for the fun run\, go to portraitsofhope.charity where you can enter your information and have the opportunity to donate.
