DESCRIPTION:Rowing is a superb aerobic and resistance workout using all of the body’s major muscle groups\, a fantastic way to enjoy the great outdoors\, and a low-impact activity that you can learn and enjoy at any age – for fun\, fitness\, and/or competition\, for the rest of your life! \nThis 6-session class is for adults who are serious about learning to row and who intend to join the rowing club upon completion. Two classes: June 6-16 OR July 11-21; Saturdays & Sundays 8-10am and Tuesdays 6-8pm. You must attend all 6 sessions to graduate. \nSeats are limited\, so you must sign up in advance at lakepurdyrowing.org/ltr. Adults only\, ages 19 to 80+ $275 tuition. \nLake Purdy Rowing Association is an all-volunteer 501c3 dedicated to promoting the sport of rowing in the Greater Birmingham area.

DESCRIPTION:Join Woodlawn United on Saturday\, September 19\, 2026\, for the inaugural Move for Impact: Kingston-Woodlawn Wellness Day + 5K Race\, a community event celebrating health\, wellness\, and the people\, places\, and progress that make Kingston and Woodlawn special. \nThis exciting event will feature the first race connecting both the Kingston and Woodlawn neighborhoods. The 5K course will take participants past key community landmarks\, including Woodlawn High School\, i3 Academy\, Willow Wood Park\, and new neighborhood developments that reflect the continued growth and investment happening throughout the area. \nMore than a race\, Move for Impact is a celebration of community. Following the race\, participants and neighbors are invited to enjoy a free Wellness Day experience featuring: \n• Health screenings and wellness resources\n• Farmers market-style vendors\n• Fitness demonstrations and activities\n• Youth and family engagement opportunities\n• Community organizations and local businesses \nThe Wellness Day event is free and open to the community\, but RSVPs are encouraged so we can plan well for attendees. \nRace registration is separate and will be completed through another link. The 5K race is $30 per participant\, and the Kids Run is $15 for children ages 5 to 11. \nRace Day Schedule\n• 7:00 AM – Race Registration and Check-In Opens\n• 8:00 AM – 5K Race Begins\n• 9:00 AM – Wellness Day Activities Open\n• 1:00 PM – Event Concludes \nWhy We Run \nEvery race registration\, donation\, and sponsorship helps fund community programs focused on education\, wellness\, youth development\, and neighborhood revitalization throughout Kingston and Woodlawn.
