SUMMARY:Lunch & Learn: Looking Anew at the BMA’s American Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Have you noticed that works of art from the American gallery recently appeared in Monet to Matisse: French Moderns\, 1850–1950 and will appear in Roll Call: Two Hundred Years of Black American Art? Attend this Lunch & Learn to see the more than ten new works that are on view while favorites from the gallery like Henry Ossawa Tanner’s Moroccan Scene and Charles Ethan Porter’s Still Life appear in these featured exhibitions. We will begin with a brief conversation in the gallery before connecting over lunch in the Members Room. \nIf you would like lunch\, please choose from the Café BMA menu. DESCRIPTION:Attend this Lunch & Learn to take a deep dive into our recently received collection of photographs by Eadweard Muybridge\, featured in the rotation of American art opening in the American Gallery in November 2025. This rotation includes not only Muybridge’s revolutionary studies of movement\, but also features works by American Impressionists and other artists who were influenced by Muybridge’s artwork. Muybridge’s influence was widespread\, and we will discuss this while enjoying lunch before visiting the rotation to examine the artworks in person.
