DESCRIPTION:| 			\n			\n							 \n\n\n\nLearn the fundamentals of working with concrete as you design and cast your own custom planters from start to finish. Artist and Vivatia Plant Care Services owner Astrid Jerez will guide you through the process of creating your own planters while learning foundational techniques in concrete\, design\, and plant styling. Each participant will take home 3–4 unique planters—no experience needed. \nInstructor: Astrid Jerez \nAstrid Jerez is a botanical and mixed media artist whose work explores the connection between art and living plants. Through her creative practice\, she transforms natural elements into expressive pieces that invite people to bring more greenery and intention into their everyday spaces.  \nShe is the founder of Vivatia Plant Care Services\, an interiorscaping business based in Birmingham\, where she designs and installs indoor and outdoor plant environments for homes and businesses—bringing life\, texture\, and balance into every corner. Astrid’s workshops blend creativity with hands-on learning\, making art both approachable and functional. Join Bob Koons\, a familiar face both in the Kaul Wildflower Garden and at our plant sales\, as he discusses the selection\, environmental needs\, siting\, planting\, and maintenance of trees and shrubs.  \nParticipants are invited to bring two or three photos of their yard for small group work. This is a chance to gain inspiration and practical guidance for your own landscape and to get a sneak peak of what will be available at our Fall Plant Sale! \nInstructor: Robert (Bob) Koons\nBob Koons has been a volunteer with Birmingham Botanical Gardens for nearly 10 years. Applying his background in architecture and love for the environment\, he has helped with multiple spaces such as the Japanese Garden and Kaul Wildflower Garden\, even creating a map of the many native plant species there.
