Every dollar raised will directly support Vox Academy’s innovative programs across Birmingham schools. \n“I wanted to create an event that not only celebrates the holiday season but also makes a real\, tangible impact in our community\,” says Hendricks. “Vox Academy is changing lives by giving young people the tools they need to build a brighter future. This concert is an opportunity for all of us to be a part of that change.” \nTo inspire giving\, donors will have the chance to receive exclusive incentive gifts; including\, a private concert experience and scholarship opportunities for Vox Academy students. \nJoin us for an unforgettable Christmas celebration that blends music\, mission\, and community and help empower the next generation to rise. \nRegistration is required.

SUMMARY:Snapshots with Santa
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe Children’s Harbor Junior Board is hosting its third annual Snapshots with Santa on Saturday\, November 22\, 2025 at The Market at Pepper Place from 8:30 – 11 a.m. This festive Christmas event is a charming experience where kids\, families\, and furry friends can have their picture taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus\, partake in crafts\, and write a letter to Santa\, all while investing in an organization dedicated to serving their community. \n  \nThere is no cost associated with getting a picture with Santa\, though donations are greatly appreciated. All proceeds from this event will directly benefit the Children’s Harbor Family Emergency Assistance Fund\, which provides meals\, essential household items\, and gifts to support struggling families. $162\,138 was distributed to families through this fund in 2024. \n  \n“The holiday season often brings added stress\, particularly for families with a child facing serious illness. Proceeds from this event will make a meaningful impact\, providing comfort and encouragement during their child’s medical journey\,” said Cat Outzen\, chief executive officer at Children’s Harbor. “’Snapshots’ provides a chance for families to engage with Santa in a hands-on way and helps further our mission.” \nCan’t attend but still inclined to help a family in need? Visit www.childrensharbor.com/donate and make a donation to the Children’s Harbor Family Assistance Fund. \n  \nFor more information\, please call Lauren Marino at (205) 807-5778 or visit our website www.childrensharbor.com. \n  \nAbout Children’s Harbor \nChildren’s Harbor provides refuge\, respite\, and resources to families with children who have experienced a life-altering medical diagnosis. The families and caregivers we serve seek a safe refuge when faced with unexpected life circumstances. Our comprehensive services complement medical treatment through thoughtful efforts which anticipate needs\, focus on mental and social wellbeing\, and offer a built-in support system familiar with each family’s unique situation. These no-cost services are offered at The Harbor Family Center at Children’s of Alabama in Birmingham and at the Lake Martin retreat facility in Alexander City.

SUMMARY:2025 Southern Foodways Symposium
DESCRIPTION:SFA is bringing the fall symposium to Birmingham the weekend of October 24-26\, 2025. We’ll explore both the built and imagined Southern city. Together we’ll query how to better understand urban spaces in a region commonly imagined as rural. We’ll consider the role urban spaces play in our collective constructed memory. We’ll imagine how cities might shape the future of the American South. We’ll examine metropolitan landscapes\, learn how urban communities stay connected to the land\, and ponder how newcomers find space in crowded cityscapes.
