Curley’s soulful\, bluesy vocals and the band’s hard driving zydeco beat blend to create their unique style of zydeco and blues that keeps audiences dancing. It’s always a party when Zydeco Trouble comes to town. \nLouisiana native Curley Taylor has been around music all his life. Born into a musical family\, drums were Curley’s first instrument when he began his professional career at age 16 by playing drums in his father’s band\, Jude Taylor and the Burning Flames\, a band deep in Louisiana Blues\, Soul and Zydeco. At a young age\, Curley had played drums with some of Louisiana’s musical legends\, including: CC Adcock\, Steve Riley\, John Hart\, “L’il” Bob and the Lollipops\, and his uncles\, “L’il” Buck Senegal and Wayne “Blue” Burns. He toured with CJ Chenier\, son of Clifton Chenier (aka the “King of Zydeco”)\, who is a Zydeco legend in his own right. While traveling with CJ Chenier’s band\, Curley became interested in playing the accordion\, learned to play\, and formed Curley Taylor & Zydeco Trouble in 2003. \nThe band tours extensively throughout the US\, playing festivals and clubs from New York to San Diego and from Florida to Seattle. Some of Evy’s influences are Joni Mitchell\, Brandi Carlile\, Lake Street Dive\, Queen\, and The Beatles. She also plays drums\, bass\, piano / keyboards\, and sings\, and is a recent graduate of the Alabama School of Fine Arts where she studied classical and jazz percussion. DESCRIPTION:About Party on the Porch\nEach Party on the Porch at our Homewood store focuses on giving back to our local community and raising environmental awareness for conservation\, access\, usage\, and education. The event is held on the first Friday evening of each month from April to October (except for July which we skip as it is so hot). \nParty on the Porch brings together local musicians\, breweries\, food trucks\, and artisans for an evening you do not want to miss. This is a family-friendly event\, with activities for kids\, a dog-friendly atmosphere\, cornhole\, giveaways\, and loads of fun! Attendance is free\, but we ask that of-age attendees donate (not required) $10 for a wristband and a souvenir cup with your donation going to a local non-profit organization at the event. \nNet proceeds from your donations at our May event go to Alabama State Parks. \nAbout our beneficiary: \nThe Alabama State Parks Division operates and maintains 21 state parks encompassing approximately 48\,000 acres of land and water in Alabama.
