DESCRIPTION:When: Monday\, April 21 from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM\nMeeting Location: Shades Creek Greenway\nDay of event contact: Wil Rainer\, Mobile: (901) 210-7850\nRegistration: Click here!\n\n  \nDescription:\nCome join Cahaba River Society and our partners for a 3.5 mile walking cleanup of Shades Creek! \nVolunteers will meet at the Homewood Soccer Park for check-in and directions to your cleanup station. From there\, groups will caravan to their designated location and hit the creek or the trail! We will clean until about noon when we’ll meet back at our designated meeting locations to sort and weigh all litter collected. \nCRS will provide grabbers\, bags\, and gloves. There is no charge for this trip. Folks are absolutely welcome and encouraged to head to the CRS website for donations to offset program costs to CRS. Volunteers will have the opportunity to get into the creek\, so bring your water shoes! \nDon’t forget to join us on Saturday\, April 26th at Cahaba Brewing for a celebration and awards ceremony! \n  \nWhat to Bring:\n\nWater (at least 1 liter)\nLunch\nSunscreen\nSun hat\nClose-toed shoes (required)\nYou are welcome to bring a cooler for your water and lunch\, but alcohol is prohibited.\n\n  \nRegister HERE\n  \nYou will receive a reminder the week before this event with further information. If you have questions you are welcome to email volunteer@cahabariversociety.org. \n  \nAbout Earth Week:\nThe Cahaba River Society invites volunteers to join our Earth Week Clean-Up from April 21-25\, 2025. Each day\, teams will remove litter and invasive species along the Cahaba River’s channel\, banks\, and tributaries to support native wildlife\, reduce erosion\, and promote a clean river and healthy lifestyle. The Cahaba flows through five counties\, and clean-up efforts will focus on a different county each day. \nThis week-long event highlights the Cahaba’s biodiversity and challenges\, connects participants with the mission of CRS and partners\, and aligns with global efforts for clean waterways. Volunteers will patrol various river segments on foot or by canoe\, learning about the Cahaba and the organizations working to protect it. \nLast year’s event was a resounding success\, with 162 volunteers removing over 6\,000 pounds from the Cahaba and its tributaries. \n  \nThank you to Amerex for sponsoring this cleanup!

SUMMARY:Earth Fest Clean-Up – Oliver Crossing\, Leeds
DESCRIPTION:When: Saturday\, April 19th\, 2025\, from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM\nMeeting Location: Sweet Home Spirits \nRegistration: Click here! \nWe’ll be walking about a third of a mile along and in (if you want) the Little Cahaba River near the Oliver Crossing neighborhood. Come meet us at Sweet Home Spirits at 10:30 AM to caravan to the cleanup location. If you arrive after 11:00 AM\, plan to park along Jones St and follow the flags to meet up with the rest of the group. Be sure to stick around afterwards for some Earth Fest celebrations with live music from local acts\, food\, and drinks. This celebration will be hosted by Sweet Home Spirits and will benefit the mission of Cahaba River Society! \nCRS will provide all of the gear necessary for this cleanup. If you have a favorite grabber or pair of gloves\, you’re welcome to bring them. You may want a small backpack to help carry your things as you make your way around. \nLunch available for purchase from N Yo Face food truck starting at 1:30 PM back at Sweet Home after the cleanup. There is also a hose at the distillery for washing any dirt off\, so plan to stick around for the live music and live fun. SUMMARY:Cahaba Blueway Cleanup Series – March 15\, 2025
DESCRIPTION:When: Saturday March\, 15 2025 – 9:00am to 12:00pm\n  \nWhere: Bains Bridge Cahaba Blueway Access Point. You will see a yellow volunteer day sign at the meeting location. We will meet in the gravel lot as you pull off of Lorna Rd. Check in with staff when you arrive.\n\n\n\nWhat: We will be doing a walking cleanup along the Cahaba River and will provide gloves\, grabbers\, and bags for this event. We ask that you dress accordingly for the weather and wear closed toe shoes such as boots\, tennis shoes\, or waterproof shoes if you intend to wade into the river. We recommend bringing a small backpack or bag with a water bottle\, snacks\, and anything else you feel you may need while participating in this event.\n\n\n\nYou will receive a reminder the week before this event with further information.
