The Moth Pop-Up Porch 2022

The Moth, a beloved global storytelling nonprofit  – the team behind the Peabody Award-winning radio show and ultra popular podcast

The Moth, a global storytelling nonprofit, has been on the road all  fall with our first-ever Pop Up Porch—a specially built tiny-home— in search of true stories from communities across the south.  We’re now in Birmingham –the fifth stop on our six-city tour – from Wednesday, October 19 through Sunday, October 23. 

Presented in collaboration with General Motors, the primary goal of The Pop Up Porch is to uncover new stories with the hopes of bringing them to stages worldwide and to millions of listeners on The Moth Radio Hour and The Moth Podcast.  We believe that everyone has a story to share and that when stories are listened to with an open heart and mind, we can build deep bonds and understanding through our shared humanity.  Those stopping by the Pop-Up Porch event will have the opportunity to listen to and immerse themselves in Moth stories; learn to craft their own with the organization’s artistic team; and mix and mingle with the local storytelling enthusiasts.  It will be a fun time for all!

Also, on Thursday, October 20th, 7PM  we’ll host The Moth StorySLAM at Red Mountain Theatre (1600 3rd Ave S). Tickets for that are on sale now, available via The Moth website (themoth.org). For those who don’t know, it’s a very fun event where anyone can put his/her/their name in a hat.  Ten people will be chosen at random to share a five-minute story based on the evening’s theme.  (The theme of Thursday’s event is “Crossroads.”)
