Sharrif Simmons presents new book, “Clearly Spoken, Spoken Clearly”

Sharrif Simmons is “looking forward to being back in Birmingham,” a city that has long benefited from his wide range of talents. From poet to songwriter, performance artist to teacher of performing arts, Simmons makes an impression in any community. Some may remember him from the New York Def Poetry Jam days of the 90s or seen his most recent contributions to Birmingham’s Alys Stephen Center and the creation of the Artplay center, where Simmons educated children in multi-disciplinary arts programs for 12 years. Now residing in Harlem, we welcome this gem back to the East Village Arts Center (EVA, formerly Art Town), this Friday July 8th, from 6:30-9:30 pm, to celebrate his most recent collection of work in a book of poems entitled Clearly Spoken, Spoken Clearly.
