Science on Screen: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

March 21, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Join us for an exciting new program, as McWane becomes the only science center in the national Science on Screen © program.

In this Oscar winning film, Joel (Jim Carrey) is stunned to discover that his girlfriend, Clementine (Kate Winslet), has had their tumultuous relationship erased from her mind. Out of desperation, he contacts the inventor of the process, Dr. Howard Mierzwiak (Tom Wilkinson), to get the same treatment. But as his memories of Clementine begin to fade, Joel suddenly realizes how much he still loves her.
Part sci-fi brain teaser, part hip rom-com, “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” nonlinear narrative creates a “love story in reverse”.

Our guest speaker, Dr. Kristina Visscher from UAB’s Department of Neurobiology, will help us explore the complexity of the human brain and the of our memory.

Science on Screen® at McWane Science Center is made possible through a grant from the Coolidge Corner Theatre, with support from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.

Science on Screen® is FREE to the public but seating is limited so reserve your spot now.
