In the fourth year of Ride4Gabe, this years “Summit Duchenne” ride will take three local cyclists from Birmingham to the summit of a very tall mountain in Colorado. The riders are educating people about Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, or DMD, and they are inspired by 14-year-old Gabe Griffin, of Birmingham, who suffers from the rare muscle-robbing condition. Michael Staley, Demetrious White, and Brian Toone will pedal 1,500 miles in just 7 days, crossing 8 states and reaching a whopping 14,115 feet above sea level at the end of the ride. You can follow the riders, starting on July 27th around 10pm, at www.ride4gabe.com and on Facebook @Ride4Gabe. The riders will be supported by a crew of 5 with an SUV courtesy of Donohoo Auto. They will store gear in a trailer and sleep 4-5 hours a night in an RV provided by local supporters. You can cheer on the riders as they depart Birmingham from Good People Brewing on July 27th at 9:00 pm.
