Artist Statement:

Painted Faces by Jourdan Truth

I decided to put on a show dedicated to my style of portraits. Through my spontaneous brush strokes on a canvas, I try to capture the unique features of the faces I paint. I’ve been creating pieces that inspire me and have a deeper meaning than just what the eye initially sees. This collection is a diverse group of individuals consisting of musicians, artists, athletes, coaches, and public figures memorialized for the Black Lives Matters movement. The ideal of the show is to make you feel every emotion as you analyze each painting in the collection. I’m looking forward to seeing your faces as you come to see Painted Faces.

Artist Bio:

I was born and raised in Enterprise Alabama. Growing up, I was a kid of many talents. Playing sports was my passion through school but I never let them overshadow my hobbies as an artist. In my junior year of school at Stillman College, I took a chance and changed my major to art. Later on that next year I transferred to The University of Alabama to finish my art degree. A year after graduating in 2017, I took another chance and went out and started my own art business in Birmingham Alabama. January 2018 Art of Truth Complete Studio was born. Through trials and tribulations, I am working to become a diverse artist that has no limits. May 2019, I reached another milestone by self-publishing and releasing my first book, “Recycled” available on Amazon.com.
