Cranksgiving EnduroCat

Read Time 3 Minutes

November 17, 2019 @ 6:30 am 6:30 pm

We’ve hosted Cranksgiving rides before, but we’re doing things a little different (and hopefully better!) this year :

– There will be 6 set routes which will each start/end at the shop. Each is exactly 10 miles long, a 10 mile loop if you will. No roads will be closed and this is *not* a closed course ride. You can combine these routes in whatever order or repetition as you wish to achieve your distance goal for yourself.

– The routes are themed & can be found in Ride with GPS as follows (be sure to search using creator “Brian Sullivan” along with the name of the route):

Marcus’ Greatest Hits
Beer Run
Hills, Hills, Hills
Flat & Fast West
Fast & Fast East
One Way Streets

– The ride starts at 6:30a (sunrise) and ends at 5:30p (sunset). You can start anytime you wish and do as many 10 mile loops as your heart desires. We have constructed these loops mindfully to provide a unique opportunity to get major distance & elevation all within Birmingham city limits.

– The shop will serve as a rest stop & support station from 6:30a until 6:30p. We’ll have snacks, hydration, charging stations, cots, and supportive people at the shop all day long to cheer you on. A SAG vehicle will be launched from the shop as needed and will be available for major mecahnical issues and exhausted riders.

– This isn’t a race against anyone but yourself. You are free to self-determine your route, your start time & your total distance. We are encouraging participants to push themselves and to ride further than they ever have, 10 miles at a time, no matter if that means 20 miles or 120 miles. We’ve got your back & we are here cheering for you.

– We will have some prize medals for achievements such as “Most Miles Ridden”, “Most Altitude Gained”, “Best Costume” “Longest Time in the Saddle” and other categories as we see fit. If you’re into KOMs and leaderboards, be sure to bring your smartphone equipped with your fave riding app.

The icing on the cake will be stocking the Grace Klein Community pantry just in time for Thanksgiving! $5 out of every registrant’s fee will go towards buying non-perishable items which will be donated. We are partnering with Grace Klein for the second year & have selected this organization because of their tremendous efforts in getting boxes of food *DELIVERED* to those in need on a regular, reliable basis. Grace Klein has gone so far as to deliver non-perishable food to our clients whom live in non-traditional places such as tents, under bridges and in abandoned homes. Their delivery service bridges a much needed gap in the availability of a food pantry for those who lack transporation or those whom are homebound.

The shop will also be holding a Cranksgiving Food Drive November 1st-17th. Look for the Christmas wrapped box near the register to donate.

Any non-perishable items are welcome but Grace Klein has specifically requested the following :
– Oatmeal
– Peanut butter
– Canned chili
– Green beans
– Black eyed peas
– Toilet Paper
There items are ones they are always in need of and which provide stable nutrition for their clients.

Riders wishing to get a fee waiver to ride can donate 5 items each of all items on the list for a total of 30 donated tems (1 oatmeal = 1 box of individual servings, 1 TP = package of at least 4 rolls, all other items = 1 can/jar = 1 item). If seeking fee waiver, please bring all items to the shop during the food drive Nov 1st-16th to pre-register or show up on the day of the event with your donations. We’ll make it work either way.
