Community Cooking Class – Heart-Healthy Cooking (Indian Cuisine)

Samford University’s Wellness Kitchen invites the greater Birmingham community to its on-campus food labs — formerly the Southern Living test kitchens — to join in a series of heart-healthy community cooking classes. Participants will prepare a variety of delicious recipes and discover that heart-healthy cooking is easier than they think. For the Feb. 23 course, participants will make three recipes: Zucchini & Spinach Soup, Quick Jeera Chicken and Phirni (Chilled Rice Pudding with Nuts)
Participants will receive training in basic culinary techniques, learn about key nutrients and explore how different ingredients and cooking techniques can help prevent chronic disease and improve heart health.
This class is part of a three-week series with the menu being different each week. (Please note that each class must be purchased separately). Instructional materials, ingredients and recipes are included. This class is open to anyone in the greater Birmingham community. 16 spots available.
