UPDATE: Due to forecasted thunderstorms, we’ve unfortunately had to cancel this event.

Check out our upcoming events here.

Our next coastal Gosse Nature Walk will be in Foley at Graham Creek Nature Preserve (23030 Wolf Bay Drive). With around 500 acres of natural beauty, Graham Creek Nature Preserve provides protection for rare plant and animal species by preserving their unique habitats and enhancing and restoring natural areas. Join our Coastal Outreach Manager, Cortney, and a special guest from the preserve for this lunchtime nature break and to learn all about the plants and animals we come across as we explore this beautiful area.

AlabamaBirdingTrails small CANCELLED: Coastal Gosse Nature Walk: Foley—Graham Creek Nature Preserve

Graham Creek Nature Preserve is part of the Coastal, South Baldwin County Loop of the Alabama Birding Trails.

The details: Meetup is at noon. The address for the park is 23030 Wolf Bay Dr., Foley, AL 36535. We will meet next to the main parking lot in front of the nature center.

As always, remember to bring water and snacks, insect repellent, rain gear, sunblock, and seasonally appropriate attire. If you have your own binoculars, you’ll definitely want to bring them along—but we will have a few pairs on hand to lend out for the duration of the walk.

In the case of inclement weather, the event may be cancelled. You may contact the trip leader the morning of the event if the weather is questionable.

Registration: To register, click on the button above. If you’re new to our online system and don’t yet have a username and password, simply click the “X” on the pop up and fill out the basic form. If you do have a login, please use it as this helps us tremendously on our end! You should receive an automated email upon registering.

Accessibility: We will be meeting in a gravel parking lot, taking a short stroll along a boardwalk loop, and then walking a small section of Pitcher Plant loop. This trail is mostly a flat, maintained, grass trail. Depending on rainfall amounts leading up to the hike, there may be soft waterlogged terrain along the trail.

Questions about accessibility? Email us for more information about how we can meet your needs.

Trip leaders: Alabama Audubon Coastal Outreach Manager, Cortney Weatherby, co-leads this trip with a Graham Creek Nature Preserve education staff member. Cortney’s cell is 402-297-1775 (day of event only, please).

Questions? Email the Coastal Outreach Manager.

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

Through more than seventy-five years of conservation work in one of our nation’s most ecologically rich states, Alabama Audubon has seen firsthand how diversity strengthens natural communities. We believe that the same principle applies to human communities, which is why our organization is committed to providing equitable opportunities for all Alabamians to learn about and enjoy wild birds, their habitats, and the natural world. One of the best ways to support that belief is by valuing and actively seeking to strengthen diversity among our staff, our board, and our membership. To that end, Alabama Audubon welcomes the whole of our community to our work, and strives to make our programs, classes, and events open and accessible to all.
