Funding the Future of Food in Our State
Our annual fundraiser dinner is one of our favorite nights of the year, but thanks to Covid-19, our plans (like so many others) have changed.
This year, we will be hosting a drive-through, pick-up picnic dinner basket on Sunday, October 18 from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Each basket will serve two people (menu below), and will come complete—naturally—with a bottle of Champagne.
You will be able to purchase your basket as well as shop for unique Dame-led virtual experiences, virtual wine tastings, and a variety of specialty items including art, books, a 3-day juice cleanse from Farm Bowl + Juice Co., and more at our online storefront.
A new feature this year is a raffle. We’re offering two packages that each include 12 $100 gift cards from restaurants around the city, including OvenBird, Satterfield’s, El ZunZún, Gianmarco’s, The Bright Star, Hot and Hot Fish Club, and more. Each ticket is $25.

Additionally, everyone in line to pick up their baskets or cocktail kits will be treated to a fun, free extra: a small treat from Happy City Boxes, which shares locally sources treats that are sure to bring a smile to your face, or Naughty But Nice Kettle Corn, which specializes in crafting small-batch, artisan-style sweet and salty kettle popped corn. The owner of Naughty But Nice, Tanesha Sims-Summers, received LDEI Birmingham’s Entrepreneur Award two years ago.
One important thing remains the same: We remain deeply committed to supporting and empowering women of all ages all across our state through our scholarship and grant program. Since it began four years ago, nearly $60,000 has been awarded to women across the state pursuing a wide variety of food- and culinary-related careers. Those women include students pursing food and hospitality-related careers in community colleges and four-year universities; high school students participating in culinary ProStart competitions; female entrepreneurs who are growing their businesses; and non-profit organizations doing invaluable work in the community.
Please continue to check back here as we will update this page as more details are finalized. We appreciate your support!
