Car camping with optional 9 mile Pinhoti hike or MTB ride on horse trails

October 12, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - October 13, 2019 @ 3:00 pm

A laid back weekend in the woods, we did this a couple years ago at Pine Glen and had 25-30 folks, the federal agent that confiscated our beer suggested we do the next one at the Wardens Horse Camp, the only campground where beer is okay. Temperatures are looking great for a day hike or bike ride and a night time campfire and camping, there will be beersbie competition Saturday afternoon, campfire and cooking that evening, you are on your own for food, if any want do do a communal stew and contribute ingredients I can bring a dutch oven, day hike Sunday from Burns trailhead back to camp is 8.4 trail miles and about 9 if you walk back to camp, bike/horse trail runs through the camp and makes a large loop for a convenient bike ride, the trail was a much better ride than I expected, I will probably ride Saturday morning. This event will have a minimum of 8 required and a max of 25 people. There are no tables at this campsite so bring a chair. Loop 5 overflow at the back of the campground is where we’ll try to get. A few minutes away are hot showers at Coleman Lake for a day use permit per vehicle. The camp site are huge so I doubt more than one will be needed…we may have to park vehicles a small walk away from camp if we have a lot of people sign up.
