A Cooperative Approach to the Future of Food

November 12, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm

From the organizers:
Join us for a timely discussion between experts in cooperative structures moderated by Swette Center Executive Director Kathleen Merrigan.
Younger generations see economic exclusion and inequality, political divisiveness, and are demanding a greater say in the future of food. Could this be a cooperative moment? What can we learn from an examination of the history and current state of the US cooperative movement, which has been so significant to Rural America?

Panelists include

John and Carol Zippert – Former Federation of Southern Cooperatives, Cooperative Hall of Farmers
Jerry McGeorge – Executive Vice President, CROPP Cooperative, Organic Valley
Sarah Tyree – Vice President, Policy and Public Affairs, CoBank
Doug O’Brien – President and CEO, National Cooperative Business Association, CLUSA International

Following our panel, there will be time for audience participation and a post program reception with rooftop views.
