Trattoria Zaza makes fun dishes with a blended menu of Italian and Southern fare. They are a hot brunch spot on the weekends, but they offer a great selection for dinner too. For $9, you can get their soup of the day, mixed greens and a side of their rosemary bread. Call for their soup of the day.

2. The Rougaroux

brick & tin is a favorite spot for fresh food, pastries and drinks. They serve classy dishes with local and sustainable ingredients. Their two soups are mushroom and butternut squash.

4. East 59 Cafe

East 59 is a cute café with vintage vibes. You may remember them from East Lake, but they are now operating at the Lee Branch shopping center in Hoover. East 59 offers a selection of coffees, teas, sandwiches, salads and a daily selection of soups. Call for their soup of the day.

5. Urban Cookhouse

Urban Cookhouse got its start in Homewood and grew into the chain they are today. They offer farm fresh food with speedy service. Urban Cookhouse serves sandwiches, wraps, salads and soups. They normally have cream of broccoli soup and a seasonal soup.

6. Pho Pho

Pho, a Vietnamese rice noodle soup, is a labor of love. Most recipes must be made 14 hours in advance. Luckily, Pho Pho Vietnamese does that work for you, so all you have to do is enjoy it. Pho Pho offers beef, chicken, seafood or veggie phos.

8. Ikko

Ikko in 5 Points is a great restaurant for sushi, bubble tea, ramen and other Japanese dishes. One bowl of their ramen is enough for two meals! With all the toppings, noodles and warm broth, Ikko’s ramen makes for a great fall meal.

9. Taj India

When you think of Indian food, soup probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. However, Taj India offers a nice selection of fragrant soups too. They make vegetarian lentil, spinach and tomato soups. They also serve mulligatawny, a chicken and rice soup.

10. Nabeel’s Cafe + Market

Since the early 1970s, Nabeel’s is a source of community and flavorful Mediterranean dishes in Homewood. They serve different soups, like pasta fagioli or lentil, to keep you warm in the colder months and offer gazpacho to keep you cool in the summer. Check out their market after enjoying your meal.

Ashley Mac’s offers more than just strawberry cake. They serve a whole selection of sandwiches, salads and a daily soup. They rotate through chicken chili, tomato basil and creamy chicken noodle.

12. Surin Thailand

Birmingham has some delicious options when it comes to Thai cuisine in the city. Surin’s spicy coconut soup is available at all three locations. Want to make it an entree? You also have the option to customize your soup by adding shrimp, chicken or tofu.

13. MELT
