We live in the Pinterest era. Everything from holiday decor to children’s birthday parties must be themed, homemade, and perfectly Instagrammable. However, how many of us really have space in our homes to store and create all of that? There’s a new business in Birmingham here to solve that problem.
Find Yourself in Your Creativity
The benefits of creative expression are endless. Creating can improve everything from fine motor skills to mental health and more.
The Crafter’s House in Hoover was founded with those benefits in mind. The Crafter’s House is a warm, welcoming space filled with creative possibilities where it’s easy for you to rekindle your love for creating.
Whether you’re an artist in need of studio space, a group of friends looking for a fun way to make something beautiful, or just someone who needs to walk in, create, and de-stress—The Crafter’s House has something for everyone!
From scrapbooking, needle arts, woodworking, painting, printmaking, jewelry making, and ceramics—you can explore so many different forms of creativity.
Meet the Woman Behind the Crafts
After more than 20 years as a successful commercial real estate developer, Shawn Hicks was exhausted and stressed by the near-constant traveling her job required.
In addition to her work demands, she raised two children. As a result of her hectic life, she started crafting and remodeling her home as a creative outlet.
In August 2018, Shawn reassessed her career and decided to open a crafting studio.
“I saw a need in the community that matched my ability and so I created a place where people can recharge and enjoy their crafting hobby(ies).”Shawn Hicks, Founder of The Crafter’s House
