A few years ago, my parents decided to buy motorcycles. What I initially thought was a mid-life crisis became an obsession, and this obsession runs in the family. That’s why I was stoked to learn about Birmingham’s Barber Vintage Festival.

Beginning on Friday, October 4, more than 75,000 people from all over the world will gather at Barber Motorsports Park for Barber Vintage Festival.

The festival is the largest of its kind and also features the nation’s largest vintage Swap Meet. So, if you’ve ever dreamed of becoming a motorhead, this is your chance. Over 600 vendors will be at the festival buying, selling, and trading vintage motorcycles, parts, and apparel.

Attendees will also enjoy vintage motorcycle shows, on and off-road races, delicious food, and so much more.

Personally, I’m dying to see daredevil stunts performed on motorcycles in events like the Globe of Steel and the Wall of Death. Pun intended. 😁

In case you didn’t know: The American Motor Drome Company performs inside a massive wooden cylinder called a motordrome – aka the Wall of Death. While inside, vintage motorcyclists perform mind-blowing acrobatic tricks while traveling along the vertical wall.

But wait, there’s more!

The Grand Marshal of this year’s festival is trail-blazing off-road champion, innovator, and entrepreneur John Penton. No big deal, but he basically re-invented off-road motorcycles. That’s an autograph you’re going to want. 🏁

Before the festival ends on Sunday, October 6, don’t miss your opportunity to sign up and experience a Demo Ride.

If you’re new to the world of motorcycles, the most important thing to know is that these vehicles are more than machines. They are considered works of art, and there is no place that recognizes this better than Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum.

Alabama-native and Porsche-racing champion George Barber began collecting vintage motorcycles in 1988. He founded Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum in 1994, and it officially opened in 1995. Now, it showcases the world’s largest collection of vintage motorcycles. There are more than 1,600 in total.

Throughout the festival, the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum will also hold extended hours and informative seminars. It’s also one rare occasion the museum’s restoration level is open to the public. Take a sneak peak of the process while you can. 👀
