In 2017, we released our first guide to The Pizitz Food Hall, which you can find here. Since then, there have been a few changes to Birmingham’s first food hall, and it’s our duty to keep you in the loop. Without further ado, let’s get into it: the updated guide to The Pizitz Food Hall.

New Stalls Coming to The Pizitz

Currently, there are three empty stalls at The Pizitz Food Hall. Only one has been given a a new tenant; Ichicoro Imoto, the ramen stall, will now become Pho Pho, a Vietnamense Pho soup stall. Pho Pho (pronounced “fuh – fuh”) has another location in town on Highway 280 where they’ve been very successful. We can’t wait to see what kind of pho they’ll bring to downtown!

There is still no word on the REV stall or the former Choza Taqueria stall, but we will keep you updated!

Alabama Biscuit Company

This is Alabama Biscuit’s second location. Their first location in Cahaba Heights is extremely successful, and they are cooking up the same amazing biscuits and breakfast dishes at this location!

Ono Poke

Ono Poke has also expanded! They now have another location in Edgewood with a slightly expanded menu, but you can find all the poke bowls they’re known for at The Pizitz. Choose from tuna, salmon, shrimp or tofu to top your hawaiian-style bowl!

Still not sure what poke is? We’ve got a guide for you.

Piper & Leaf Tea Co.

Piper & Leaf Tea has been a staple at Pepper Place Market for years, and now you can check them out at the food hall. They have their full range of teas here at all times. You can get them hot, cold, sweetened or unsweet. And save your jar! It may get you a discount next time you stop in.

Silver Kati Indian Street Food

Silver Kati is the second concept from popular Silver Coin Indian restaurant in Hoover. This stall serves Indian Street Food like samosas and “kati rolls.” For the rolls, you can pick a base and then fill it with whatever you’d like on the menu. They have options like chicken marinated in yogurt, tikka masala and fish or tofu.

Busy Corner Cheese and Provisions

This cheese shop has all the essentials you need for a good charcuterie board or picnic in the park. They also happen to have some of the best sandwiches in town! The cheesemongers really know their stuff, so ask them questions about the cheeses before you buy.

Eli’s Jerusalem Grill

Eli’s is a Mediterranean staple in the Birmingham community. Their menu has authentic dishes like falafel, shawarma and fresh-made hummus as well as cous cous, rice and wonderful, pillowy, pita bread.

Ghion Cultural Hall

Ghion Cultural Hall brings its authentic Ethiopian cuisine to Pizitz from its acclaimed restaurant in Atlanta. This stall is more closed off than others, as the environment is a big part of the dining experience here. At Ghion, guests are sat all around the table and encouraged to use the injera bread as their utensils. Essentially, you are meant to eat off of one large dish using just your hands and your bread. It is a fun experience if you’re looking to try new things and venture outside your comfort zone!

Lichita’s

Lichita’s is the stall you’ll want to go to for authentic Mexican popsicles, or paletas (popsicles in Spanish) using fresh, local fruit. They also offer ice cream flavors like guava, coconut, walnut, pistachio, burnt milk, cinnamon, and rice.

Juiced Up Essentials

Juiced Up is slightly new to The Pizitz Food Hall. Consider them your one-stop shop for juices, smoothies and acai bowls. These popular bowls have frozen, blended acai fruit as a base and whatever toppings you choose on top. Choices include nutella, peanut butter, bananas, strawberries and more. You can really make it your own, or go with one of their pre-made creations.

Chef Abhi Sainju, who is continuing to expand is restaurants around Birmingham, created this stall to serve traditional, made-from-scratch dumplings and Banh Mi sandwiches.

The Louis Bar

The Louis Bar is a large marble bar in the middle of the food hall. Partake in happy hour wine and cocktails as well as brunch mimosas or Bloody Marys here! The bar is well stocked and the staff really know their stuff.

The Standard

The Standard, one of Mindy Rohr’s favorite stalls, is known for their cheeseburgers. Oh, and the fact that you can pick from fries, tots and onion rings is no small thing. Get a fried egg on your burger to take it to the next level, or keep it simple with a classic chili dog. You can’t go wrong at The Standard.

WaffleWorks

WaffleWorks is exactly what it sounds like — waffles with ‘the works.’ You can indulge in fried chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits waffle (the waffle is made of grits!), a peach cobbler waffle and more. If you love waffles, or just new twists on classic dishes, stop by WaffleWorks.
