22 Can’t-miss events happening in November in Birmingham, including Moss Rock Festival
October really outdid itself with events, but November is right on its heels and coming in strong with 22 events you won’t want to miss! This list includes holiday events, family-friendly events and even a new brewery opening! November, let’s do this.
The Vulcans Community Awards, 11/1:
This event recognizes 13 amazing Birmingham community members for the work they are doing in the community. Attend this event at The Club to learn about the great things happening in Birmingham and support those working for positive change.
Moonlight Movies at The Pizitz, 11/1:
The Pizitz building wraps up their Moonlight Movies series with Hocus Pocus! Bring a folding chair to the courtyard at The Pizitz Food Hall and enjoy a themed cocktail from The Louis Bar while you watch!
World Vegan Day Hosted by Tropicaleo, 11/1:
Plantivores, rejoice! Enjoy a delicious vegan meal at Tropicaleo to celebtrate World Vegan Day. The restaurant will be expanding their vegan options (full menu coming soon). They will be giving away gift cards ranging from $15 to $100 — no purchase necessary!
Christmas Village Festival, 11/1 – 11/4:
The annual shopping event returns to The BJCC for its 2018 market! Get your Christmas shopping done at a variety of different unique vendors. Shop til you drop with tickets to this event.
The 16th Dia de los Muertos event in Birmingham comes to Pepper Place on Friday from 5pm-11pm. Don’t miss this annual event from Bare Hands, Inc. to see the intricate altars erected to those we have lost. There will be music, authentic food and more. Tickets here.
36th Annual Slavic/Russian Food Festival, 11/3 – 11/4:
Head to the St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church for the 36th Annual food festival! Starting at 10am on Saturday and noon on Sunday, enjoy traditional music, crafts and food like kolbasa, borsht and more.
Moss Rock Fest, 11/3 – 11/4:
Moss Rock Festival was recently named one of the best festivals in North America by FlightNetwork. It is the premiere eco-creative festival in Alabama. Head over for the art, outdoor activities and the amazing beer garden. Buy tickets at the gate!
Hello Kitty Truck, 11/3:
Blast from the past: The Hello Kitty Cafe truck will be rolling into The Summit on Saturday between 10am and 8pm. Stop by for cafe treats, cute merchandise and a hearty dose of nostalgia. The truck will be parked between Bed, Bath, & Beyond and Swoozie’s.
Disney on Ice Presents: Frozen, 11/3:
You’ve seen the movie, now experience the full story at Disney on Ice Presents: Frozen at the BJCC. Enjoy this kid-friendly event filled with songs and the Anna’s adventure! Tickets here.
Diwali: Festival of Lights Celebration, 11/4
Taj India has partnered with the Alabama Multicultural Organization to host a Diwali celebration. Expect a full Indian buffet with a complimentary glass of wine as well as free henna, sweets and music!
Seasick’s 5th Birthday Bash, 11/9 – 11/11:
That’s right — Crestwood’s favorite record store is turning 5! Come out and celebrate! Check the full schedule below:
- Friday night: Party at Mom’s Basement. DJs, drink specials and cake.
- Saturday, 11am-4pm: Stop by the shop for DJ sets and more cake.
- Sunday, 5pm: Rock out to Birmingham punks Bad Example in the Seasick shop. OH, and more cake.
Artplay Workshop: Coffee Painting and Tasting, 11/10:
You love how coffee tastes, but have you ever tried painting with it? You can try it out at this event hosted by UAB’s Alys Stephens Center! The event starts with a fun coffee tasting from Seeds Coffee Co. After the coffee tasting, you will use the grounds to create fabulous art! More info here.
District Brews Grand Opening, 11/10:
Come out to The Battery to taste Birmingham’s newest brews! The grand opening of Birmingham District Brews starts at 5pm and sure to be a fun event! Try new beers while you watch the game and listen to music!
Support the fARTS, Presented by Free @rt Bham, 11/13:
Free @rt Bham made waves in Birmingham soon after it started! This event will be held at Tropicaleo, with beer from Cahaba, and 10% of proceeds will go to support the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention – Alabama Chapter. Learn about “Free Art Fridays,” watch a documentary about the free art movement and more. There will be opportunities to buy art, food and more, but the event is free to attend.
Yappy Hour at The Pizitz, 11/14:
Looking for the best Happy Hour in town? Just follow the barking! Bring your pup and enjoy a dog-friendly happy hour in the courtyard at The Pizitz Food Hall starting at 5:30pm.
Market Noel, 11/14 – 17:
Market Noel is an annual event hosted by Junior League of Birmingham. The three-day shopping fundraiser showcases more than 100 regional and national vendors in fashion, home decor, jewelry, holiday items, gourmet food and more.

Samford Arts Presents The Ghosts of Gatsby, 11/15 – 11/18:
Samford Opera will debut the world premier of The Ghosts of Gatsby, a new one hour opera by Joshua McGuire and Evan Mack and commissioned by Samford University. Tickets here.

Holiday Open House at Studio by the Tracks, 11/15:
The Holiday Open House is a great place to buy local and handmade art for holiday gifts! Bring your own shopping bag to this fun event held at the Irondale studio (301 20th Street South, Irondale AL, 35210). The event begins at 5:30 pm. Studio by the Tracks is a studio and gallery for artists with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
Celebrate Jody Day Fundraiser, 11/17:
This fundraiser for CJD Disease includes a reunion walk to honor one of Homewood Middle School’s former teachers who lost her battle to the rare brain disease. Join others at Homewood Middle School beginning at 8 am to raise money and awareness for CJD Disease.
Turkey Science at The McWane, 11/19:
Science activities featuring November’s favorite bird — how can you go wrong? Head over to The McWane Science Center for this kid-friendly event!
Shop from local Birmingham makers, farmers and artists at The Pizitz Building! Vendors will line 19th Street. Parking is free for the first 2 hours in The Pizitz Parking Deck. Shop local this holiday season!

America’s two favorite funny men are back in Birmingham! Catch these comedic geniuses at the BJCC at 7:30 pm. Buy tickets here before they sell out!
Birmingham Ballet Presents: The Muttcracker, 11/30:
“The Muttcracker,” an internationally-known twist on the classic “tail,” is a production of the nutcracker with dogs performing alongside the dancers! Watch the dog auditions here, and buy tickets here for this fun-filled holiday event!
Christmas with Samford Arts, 11/30:
Enjoy Christmas music, dancing and more from the talented ensembles of= Samford Arts. Admission is free. Make plans to arrive early for Christmas music and refreshments in the Wright Center Lobby at 6:30.
