The Crestwood Community consists of 2 neighborhoods: Crestwood North and Crestwood South. The neighborhoods are separated by Crestwood Boulevard, which runs through the middle of them. The area is full of shops, dining and great neighborhoods.
1. Where is Crestwood?
You might already be familiar with Crestwood, as it has grown in the number of shops and buzz the past few years. Crestwood sits in southeast Birmingham, just South of Woodlawn, East of Avondale and North of Irondale. The Crestwood community claims the zip codes 35212 and 35222.

John Carpenter “Halloween” Party at Seasick. Head over to Seasick Records on Friday, October 19 for trick-or-treating, drinks and snacks and a jack-o-lantern contest. The party will be in conjunction with the release of John Carpenter’s new “Halloween” original soundtrack. Did I mention you can step into a photo booth with Michael Myers for a spooky photo? Oh yeah, you won’t want to miss this.

I spoke to Kristina O’Quinn about this, and she told me that she and her husband, City Councilor, Darrell O’Quinn, moved into Crestwood in the the year 2000. “We were sold on the beauty of the neighborhood. Not only that, but the people who have been living in Crestwood for a long time welcomed us with open arms and taught us about the history of the community.”
“Our corner of Birmingham is quaint and quirky at the same time,” said Jen Daniel, a Crestwood resident, who’s lived there for three years. “We can walk to the record store as a family, even hear a live show from our front porch if Seasick Records is hosting a band. That’s pretty neat. Our new pharmacy serves milkshakes, and it’s right next to a vintage clothing shop. Our park even has a public pool that’s open in the summertime for the kids. Crestwood, while it’s still growing, is really turning into a neighborhood with lots of fun and convenient spots for us as a family.”
4. Eat and Drink
Crestwood Coffee Co., Crestwood Tavern and The Filling Station
Crestwood Coffee Co. has a variety of menu options such as a cranberry walnut muffin, spicy pimento cheese, and their premium dark roasted coffee. The Filling Station is known for the delicious pizzas, pastas, salads, and history in the Crestwood community. “The Filling Station was once the last standing full-service station in Birmingham,” Kristina O’Quinn stated.
5. How much is housing?
In 2018, the average price for a house in Crestwood is $243,178. The median price is almost the same, coming in at $242,500.

6. Get Your Shop On At The Shoppes of Crestwood or Festival Center
The Shoppes of Crestwood: This area is located in Crestwood North and is the home of Crestwood Coffee Co., Urban Suburban Antique Shop, Crestwood Pharmacy and Soda Foundation and Seasick Records. Head over to Elements for handmade and local goods like candles, clothing and jewelry.
Festival Center: This center is located right on the edge of Crestwood South and is home to a variety of shops, including Home Depot, Dollar Tree and Burlington Coat Factory. Indulge your taste buds at Sushi Village or Los Arcos.
7. Most ‘Grammable Spot in Town
Crestwood Tavern is known for having a gorgeous mural on the right side of the shopping complex. You can find this mural at 5500 Crestwood Blvd, Birmingham, AL 35212.
