Coosa Riverkeeper’s Karli Riley sums it up best: “Hundreds of thousands of folks call the Coosa their home. Even those who don’t actually share an address with the river would probably argue that the river feels more like their home than where they actually live. Home is where the heart is.

“As Alabamians, our hearts are where our favorite places to recreate or cast a line are. The Coosa is a refuge to the stressors of the outside world and gives solitude to paddlers, swimmers and fishermen alike.”

Chef Miguel Figueroa of Amsterdam Cafe and Moore’s Mill Club

“Every plate we serve has its own story to tell.” That is how Chef Miguel Figueroa describes the meals he creates at the Moore’s Mill Club and Amsterdam Cafe, Auburn, Alabama’s finest dining establishments. Patrons at both places rave about his creations.

And the fifth reason to attend Cheers to the Coosa: all proceeds from this event go toward fulfilling the Coosa Riverkeeper’s mission to make the waters of the Coosa, drinkable, swimmable and fishable for all Alabamians. Check out their Swim and Fish Guides. This water protection group not only keeps the Coosa River safe and clean, through their leadership, riverkeepers from all over the state are duplicating their guides, which are their programs in their watersheds. Now, that’s pretty cool.

Don’t miss Cheers to the Coosa on September 6.
