Get ready to rock with 3 must-see bands

The Birmingham Museum of Art outdid itself with the musical lineup for this season of Art on the Rocks, the museum’s most popular summer series. You can check out the bands before you go. Bham Now has rounded up links for each of their previous live performances at NPR Tiny Desk Concert.

Spin Magazine described The Suffers, an eight-piece band from Houston, as “the sort of neo-retro group you never knew music was so badly missing.”

“We make music for all people. At this point, we’ve played all over the world and one thing is certain—if the music is good, the people will enjoy it”—Kam Franklin, lead vocalist, The Suffers

Hailing from Shreveport, Louisiana, Seratones blends “Southern musicality, garage rock ferocity and general badassery.” When you hear the band, that description makes perfect sense.

Part hip-hop and part soul with a dose of jazz swing, Tank and the Bangas of New Orleans got their big break in 2017. This summer the band will tour Europe before bringing its gritty R&B groove to the Birmingham Museum of Art.

Art on the Rocks is more than an event, it’s a cultural happening with DJs indoors and out, dance performances, live painting exhibits and the summer’s hottest musical guests.

Catch these community partners June 8 at Art on the Rocks, and stay tuned for July and August bookings.
