3 ways to watch the royal wedding from the other Birmingham, including the Elyton Hotel
The royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is just days away on Saturday, May 19. This means you have just a few short days to figure out how you’re going to view the royal wedding. Is your plan in order?
Okay, so you may not be able to attend the actual wedding (wouldn’t that be incredible!), many across Birmingham will be watching the events of the royal wedding unfold from TV’s and computer screens across the city. If you are trying to finalize your plans for when, where and how to watch and celebrate the royal wedding, here’s how:
Royal Wedding Watch Party at the Elyton Hotel
Dine and watch the wedding among other fans of the royal couple with a Royal Wedding Brunch at the Elyton Hotel.
Enjoy an assorted sweet bread basket with choice of:

Royal wedding coverage doesn’t stop when the wedding ends. So let the royal fun roll into Sun, May 20 when you visit Birmingham’s Central Library.
Central Library will be hosting a celebration tea allowing patrons like you to:
- Celebrate Britain’s royal couple
- View scenes from the royal wedding
- Enjoy formal tea with friends and other library guests

How to watch at home
If you prefer to gather with friends at home to watch the royal wedding, then you’ll need to know how to watch it. Here’s a list of local TV networks broadcasting and streaming the event:
ABC:Â ABC News will begin with a special Good Morning America from 5-10AM ET. GMA co-anchor Robin Roberts and World News Tonight‘s David Muir will lead live coverage from Windsor.
Freeform and ABC News digital platforms will also simulcast the five-hour special.
CBS:Â CBS This Morning co-host Gayle King and Entertainment Tonight co-host Kevin Frazier will anchor live, multi-platform coverage from London beginning at 4AM ET.
CBSN (CBS’s News’ 24/7 streaming news network) will stream the network’s coverage of the ceremony and festivities.
FOX: Fox News Channel‘s Shepard Smith and America’s Newsroom‘s Sandra Smith with co-anchor the network’s coverage beginning at 6AM ET from outside St. George’s Chapel.
Fox & Friends‘ Ainsley Earhardt will also help co-host Fox and Friends Weekend live from Windsor beginning at 5AM ET. They will also join in on coverage of the main event at 6 AM ET.
NBC:Â The Today Show‘s Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb will co-anchor Today at the Royal Wedding near Windsor Castle from 4:30-11AM ET.
PBS: PBS is featuring a week of special programming all week leading up to the day of the royal wedding. Royal Wedding Watch, hosted by Meredith Vieira and Matt Baker and produced by BBC Studios’ Topic and Live Unit will lead into the live broadcast of the wedding on Saturday at 4:15 ET.
BBC America:Â BBC America will simulcast BBC ONe’s four hours of live coverage before, during and after the evening beginning at 4AM ET. It will re-air the wedding in an encore presentation at 10PM ET.
E!:Â Coverage from E! will begin at 5AM ET/2AM PT with E! Live From the Royal Wedding featuring Guiliana Rancie, Brad Goreski, Royals expert and E! News Chief Correspondent Melanie Bromley and E! UK host Sarah-Jane Crawford.
The network will also air E! Royal Wedding Rundown at 7PM ET/PT.
TLC: TLC will begin coverage of the royal wedding with Royal Wedding Live, a four-hour feed of the nuptials at 5AM ET/2 AM PT.
It will also air TLC’S Royal Wedding Revealed, a one-hour special hosted by Shaun Robinson at 10PM.
Extra deets From one Birmingham to the other
You may not know it, but we have a true Londoner right here in the Magic City. Tracey Alvey, Artistic Director of the Alabama Ballet, was born in Kent, London and spent the better part of her life there before relocating to Birmingham, AL in 2005.
Alvey became a ballerina at a young age and attended the Royal Ballet School in London and also worked with the London City Ballet.
And guess what! She even had the opportunity to dance for Queen Elizabeth and Princess Diana.
“[I danced] once for Queen Elizabeth, but I danced for Princess Di a number of times and got to meet her, too,” Alvey said. “She was a patron of the London City Ballet for some years and would regularly attend rehearsal as a surprise. Dance was something that she really loved.”
So what’s it like in London during a royal wedding? According to Alvey,
“There are always quite a number of pre-wedding things going on and lots of decoration… Windsor is a very small, quaint town so crowds will be kept manageable. But people will be lining the streets to get a glimpse of the bride as she arrives at Windsor Castle and as they both leave. Most people will be watching on TV and some may arrange street parties.”
