Aaron Eckhart action movie ‘Live’ to be filmed in downtown Birmingham. Road closures begin Tuesday morning

Be prepared for road closures downtown Birmingham!  Hollywood is coming to the Magic City beginning tomorrow morning (Tuesday, May 15) with the month-long filming of the movie Live staring action film star Aaron Eckhart.

Starting at 6:30a.m, according to the City of Birmingham, there will be the following street closings.

•  Magic City Grille, 2201 Third Ave. North, at 6:30 am.
•  1 p.m., the area around 22nd Street North and Third Avenue North to Second Avenue North will be closed.
•  1:30 p.m., First Avenue Alley North from 22nd Street to 23rd Street North.
•  4 p.m., parking lot in the 2100 block of First Avenue North

City officials anticipate the filming and potential disruption on city streets to last from May 15 to June 16.  Daily update on road closures can be found at :

So, what is the movie ‘Live’ about?

Variety has reported that the movie … “takes place over the course of two hours and follows a disgraced cop who is put in charge of finding the police commissioner’s kidnapped daughter, Penny, who’s trapped somewhere in the city and running out of time. With a deranged killer on his heels, Penny’s only hope is teaming up with an ambitious young online reporter who films the wild chase live.”

Eckhart, who played Harvey Dent in Batman’s  “The Dark Knight” will be joined by Ben McKenzie  who portrays the Batman franchise character, Commissioner Gordon on Fox Network’s Gotham.

Along with visiting the Film Birmingham website, the City of Birmingham will be posting regular announcements on Instagram about roads closures.
