Adamson: Not Just Cars But Family

If you don’t know the sales and service veterans over at Adamson Ford, check out our post about Mrs. Julia Wesley. She’s been a member of the Adamson Ford family for 44 years and has held just about every position in the dealership!

It’s folks like her that make your car-buying experience easy and welcoming. From the moment you walk in the door, Ms. Julia treats you like you are a guest in her home—always with a smile and an answer to any and all of your questions.

“She’s basically like our mom and the pulse of the dealership,” said Robert Howard, sales manager at Adamson Ford.

“She’s always willing to help a customer and makes sure we help the customer, too!”

An Anniversary To Celebrate

Mrs. Julia loves to share the history of the Adamson Ford building because its story is one about a small, family business with deep roots in the heart of Birmingham.

The building where Adamson Ford is located was once known as the Grand Theatre. In 1937, Mr. Adamson took ownership of the building. In 1956, Mr. Jon Israel purchased the dealership from him, which then led to Mr. Bill Israel’s purchase of the dealership in 1982.

While you’re at the crawfish boil, take a look inside of Adamson Ford. You’ll notice the original brick and exposed beams, architectural reminders of the building’s life as a theater.

The renovations you see today were completed in 2002. It was important to Mr. Israel to retain the building’s character and history, and those qualities are still important to the Israel family today.  Ms. Linnea Israel now heads Adamson Ford.

“Adamson Ford is proud to be a family owned business for 100 years and to be one of a very few female owned car dealerships in Birmingham,” Israel said.

The Israel family was even awarded by the Birmingham Historical Society for their work in preserving and enhancing the entire city block!

I think this is the only building like this,” said Fred Williams, a 12-year sales veteran with Adamson Ford. “A lot of the other Ford buildings are new, but when you come in here, it feels like home.”

Adamson Ford is a unique treasure to Birmingham and to the customers who keep coming back because of Adamson’s commitment to the community and their family atmosphere.
