At Bham Now, we wanted to provide something a little bit different this weekend for our nature-loving readers. Below is a compilation of videos about Cahaba lilies, Forever Wild, Red Mountain Park, a Black Warrior Riverkeeper PSA and the Coosa Riverkeeper’s Swim Club. Enjoy this visual tour of our state and the good conservation work that is being done.

Cahaba lilies

Several years ago the Nature Conservancy’s Paul Freeman and Samford University’s Larry Davenport produced a video about the Cahaba Lilies. Davenport is considered the world expert on the lilies. Remember, the lilies bloom between May and June – only 2 months away!

Black Warrior Riverkeeper’s Bennett Smith

The Black Warrior Riverkeeper has made the Black Warrior River “cool.” Check out U.S.A. Kayaking Team member and BWRK supporter in this PSA performing daring flips in the water.

Forever Wild 2012 Campaign

It seems like only yesterday, the Forever Wild Constitutional Amendment was overwhelmingly renewed once again by a vote of Alabamians in 2012 (75% – we may add!). Here is a great video/commercial promoting Forever Wild before the 2012 election.

Join the Coosa Riverkeeper Swim Club

One of the most successful “Right to Know” water pollution programs in the country is the Coosa Riverkeeper’s Swim Club program. This video is an introduction to the campaign encouraging citizens to get involved and educate themselves about their river.

Meet YOUR Red Mountain Park

Larger than New York City’s Central Park, Red Mountain Park is a natural, cultural and recreational wonderland. This video gives you an introduction to a Birmingham treasure.

Tell us what you think of these videos.  Which ones were your favorite?
