Who’s coming to town? January 9-15

Things slowed a bit over the holidays, but 2018’s Birmingham concert calendar will open with a bang on January 11 when St. Paul & the Broken Bones headline a sold out Concert for Children’s at Iron City. The weekend will remain packed with performances across the Magic City.

Thursday: Concert for Children’s featuring St. Paul & the Broken Bones. It’s a hard sellout, but you may have luck trying Iron City’s resale site, Lyte.

Thursday: Jerry Seinfeld. The comedian’s return to Birmingham is also a hard sell out. You can find a ticket on StubHub, but as of Tuesday, the get-in price was $215. Thursday is a big night in Birmingham.

Friday and Saturday: Riley Green with Erik Dylan and Trea Landon presented by 102.5 The Bull. Two nights at Iron City with the mainstream country up-and-comer. Saturday is completely sold out, but a few tickets remain for Friday’s show.

Friday: Clear Blue Sky. Check out one of Alabama’s finest bluegrass bands in Birmingham’s newest space. Become a member at The Jaybird and get entry to performances for free. Otherwise, it’s $10.

Friday: Jeffrey Lewis and Los Bolts with Holy Youth and Timber. Two great Birmingham bands opening for Rough Trade artist Jeffrey Lewis and the Bolts. It’s punk rock in the spirit of the Mountain Goats.

Sunday: The War and The Treaty. This is going to be a massive year for roots act The War and The Treaty. They’re already on countless festival bills, the path that acts before them traveled to larger stages. Get there early for Birmingham’s own Steel City Jug Slammers.

Monday: An Evening with Kishi Bashi, Julien Saporiti and Takenobu. If you’ve not experienced Athens, Georgia violinist live, you must. Kishi Bashi combines classical music with rock and roll, and there’s nothing like it.
