Baby, it’s cold outside. If the first week of 2018 is any indication, Birmingham is in for a chilly few months. But with those cold winter nights comes the opportunity for some delicious comfort food to warm the soul. That’s why we’ve rounded up our favorite soups from Birmingham area restaurants to keep you and your family warm (and full) this winter season.

Tomato Basil Soup and Classic Grilled Cheese

MELT in Avondale is famously known for their delicious, cheesy sandwiches and hip, laid back atmosphere. Perhaps less known, but equally as impressive, is their tomato basil soup, which can be ordered in a cup or bowl. This homemade soup is certain to keep your body warm and your soul happy. Pair with their Classic Grilled Cheese for a hearty, delicious meal.

MELT Avondale is located at 4105 4th Ave S, Birmingham, AL.

Peasant’s Garlic Soup – Chez Lulu

Peasant’s Garlic Soup

Chez Lulu’s cozy atmosphere is reminiscent of a quaint bistro deep in the streets of France. The restaurant was created by chef Carole Griffin, who also owns the adjacent Continental Bakery. Griffin created Chez Lulu to share her love for French artisan breads and cuisine with the Birmingham community.

Their Peasant’s Garlic soup is delicious alongside one of their incredible sandwiches (the ham panini is my favorite), or as a meal on its own. It is rich in flavor, with peppery undertones, and is a delicious way to warm yourself up.

Chez Lulu is located at 1909 Cahaba Rd., Birmingham, AL.

Butternut Squash – Brick & Tin

Brick & Tin has two locations: 2901 Cahaba Road (Mountain Brook) and 214 20th Street North (Downtown).
