Ready for the election to be over? Celebrate the conclusion of this long senate race with a week filled with live music in the Magic City.

Tuesday: Bully with smut and Snacks. Bully is loud, angst-filled rock and roll based in Nashville, Tennesse. The group met when singer Alicia Bognanno moved from Minnesota to pursue a degree in audio engineering from Middle Tennessee State University. A Steve Albini protege, she engineered the band’s second record, Losing, which is out on SubPop and has also been distributed by Columbia. Wednesday: Tom Petty Tribute Night Two. Saturn will host a second Tom Petty Tribute Night with local acts playing songs by the legend that passed away earlier this year.

Friday: Patterson Hood with Lilly Hiatt. The most interesting thing happening here is how great this double bill is; do no miss Hiatt’s set as the opener. Sunday: Birmingham Mountain Radio Holiday Soiree featuring The War on Drugs and Lo Moon. Another of the year’s finest releases, The War on Drugs returns to Birmingham behind A Deeper Understanding. It’s driving music for long roads with the windows down. Or…holiday music in a 1,300 seat venue, as it were. This isn’t a band that makes frequent stops in Birmingham these days, so don’t miss out on the limited tickets that remain.
