The 6th ranked Georgia Bulldogs (11-1) met the 2nd ranked Auburn Tigers (10-2) in the 2017 SEC championship on Saturday, December 2 in Atlanta, Georgia at the Mercedes-Benz stadium.

Auburn rolled into Atlanta as the hottest team in the country after wins over Georgia and then-No. 1 Alabama. But the glory was short-lived as they were cut off by two crucial turnovers, a blocked field goal and the eager-to-win Bulldogs. As the clock ticked down, the game ended with a 28-7  score and the Bulldogs claimed their first SEC title since 2005.

As usual, football fans took to Twitter to post their reactions during the game. Here’s a look at they thought:

As the final minutes counted down to the SEC Championship kickoff, Auburn’s coach, Gus Malzahn, was in high spirits. As were Auburn fans.

As the game progressed and Georgia pulled ahead at the half with a 10-7 lead, the reactions on Twitter began to take a different tone. Especially when Georgia blocked a second-half field goal and Malzahn’s face contorted into a frown that was hard to ignore. Tweeters, of course, couldn’t help but comment in a hilarious tweet-storm.

As the game drew to a close and Georgia claimed the title, football fans from both sides expressed their reactions.

Believe it or not, there were even more Muppet tweets.
