Why trust Google when you can have a patient advocate?

In today’s digital world it’s natural to think everything can be solved by a keystroke, a google search, or the purchase of an app.

The fact is the internet or some computer program can’t navigate you through the massive maze that is our healthcare system.

Think about what happens during one stay during a hospital visit.

A patient and their family will have to interact with potentially dozens of doctors, nurses, support staff and administrators; each caring for your loved one, monitoring them, making a diagnosis, and getting them well.

But what do you do if you hear the nurses say they will be conducting one treatment and then they do the exact opposite? Or the doctors each have a different diagnosis or remedy? And we haven’t even touched issues with paperwork and aftercare when you leave the hospital.

The answer is definitely not Google, Bing or Yahoo. The internet does not know you, your medical history or your family.

You can own your own healthcare

“Patients need to OWN their healthcare and be proactive in working with their medical team; it should be a relationship.  As an advocate, I assist my clients in bridging that partnership and putting them back at the center of their healthcare, stated Krista Hughes of Hughes Advocacy.

How do I hire a patient advocate?

It is as simple as reaching out to Hughes Advocacy.  They offer a 15-minute free consultation.  That conversation will help you determine if they are the right fit for you and your medical situation.  Or you can find an advocate located in your area through The AdvoConnection Directory.

Hughes Advocacy is a member of both The Alliance of Professional Health Advocates and National Association of Healthcare Advocacy Consultants.  A background check is available on their website.  And you can compare our credentials with the patient advocate board certification standards

The internet can be a resource but a patient advocate is personal.

Special offer and additional information

This month, Hughes Advocacy is offering a book that is available through their website free to anyone who is interested.  The title of the book is, “You Bet Your Life! The Top 10 Reasons You Need a Professional Patient Advocate by Your Side”.  To receive this gift, contact hughesadvocacy@gmail.com

November is also open enrollment for health insurance.  And the question is, are patient advocates covered by insurance?  The answer is yes and no.  To find out more, please check out this article to further explain,  Are Health or Patient Advocate Services Covered by Insurance?
