Welcome to the Bham Now Nature Roundup for November 3rd.

Two very popular and important nature festivals are on tap this weekend.

Up north at Little River Canyon, the JSU Canyon Center is holding their 9th annual Canyon Fest on Saturday.

Closer to home, in Hoover, the Moss Rock Festival will be holding their annual first weekend in November event.

In sad news, Jim Martin, the former Commissioner of Conservation who helped establish the Forever Wild Program passed away this week at age 99. A remarkable man, Martin also served with General George Patton in World War II.

Also released this week, Bham Now’s special series on Alabama’s biodiversity. One of the most impressive maps in the first story was the one below. Note how Alabama is at the epicenter of fish diversity in the nation.
