The new Empire Hotel Renovations are almost Complete

Referred to as the “Heaviest Corner on Earth”, the location of the Empire Hotel, among 3 other giants, caught the eye of visitors and locals in the early 1900’s.

Now, the Empire Hotel has been given a taste of Bham revitalization and will hopefully be opening soon.

Located on 1st Ave. and 20th St. North, the Empire Building has seen its fair share of Birmingham.

What’s more exciting than gutting the inside of a historic building, keeping the historic aesthetic on the outside, and modernizing the inside to suit the city’s growth?

Uhhhh, not much

The total cost of the renovations are about $45 Million and has provided the building access to become apart of Marriott’s Autograph Collection.

Details:
  • 117 Luxury Guest Rooms

Each room is fitted to met your needs in 2017 – 50″ HD Smart TV’s, High Speed WIFI…

  • Restaurant – “The Yard” – located on 20th street. Birmingham chef Haller Magee is heading up operations for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Following suit with Northside’s revitalization, the restaurant is expected to fit right in.

“…The Yard will be distinctly Southern, distinctly local, but progressive. It’s the perfect pairing for the hotel.

…we wanted to bring another distinct dining option to downtown. The restaurant will serve the hotel’s visitors, but the vision is for it to be a fixture on the Birmingham dining scene.”

– Denise Vandersall, GM of The Empire, told the BBJ

  • A rooftop bar – because the Redmont Hotel can’t take all the late nighters.
  • 4,000 Sq. Feet of indoor & outdoor meeting space – perfect for the Business District of Bham

The opening date has not been finalized, but it is expected to be around early March. We will keep you posted.

This may just be me, but I really appreciate the developers in Birmingham trying their best to maintain the historic feel of the Magic City.

What do you think they should do next?!
