Breaking News for the Birmingham CrossPlex, Literally

Currently Birmingham CrossPlex sits on a major piece of land, most of which is undeveloped, until now.

Magic City officials have finally broken ground on the new CrossPlex Village development in Five Points West.

Work on CrossPlex Village is set to begin after a groundbreaking on the project on Jan. 11.

Details:
  • Sitting on 38 acres
  • Surrounds the CrossPlex Sports Facility
  • $3.7 Million Project
  • First Step – Build a Comfort Inn & Suites and a Starbucks
  • Eventual Steps – Walgreens, Medical Office, Multifamily development(s)

This past December, the city council approved Chilton Contractors contract to begin development, and the initial step is finished, breaking ground.

“Developer Bob Nesbitt previously told the BBJ that one of the biggest benefits of the project is the job opportunities it will provide to Five Points West residents…”

– Brent Godwin, BBJ

Among job opportunities, it was also reported that Starbucks will conduct paid internships of sorts for 30 students a year that are interested in restaurant management.

Talk about an array of choices coming to Five Points West. Good thing too – the middle of Birmingham city is booming with revitalization (jobs, development, redevelopment, etc.), but some outside areas are still lacking.

This will create economic value from the west of the magic city by creating jobs, and soon become inviting to those visiting the area.
